The Undressed Project
A vibrant ecosystem of naked bodies, challenging cultural notions about body, image, beauty and death.
We are fascinated by human beings' very complex relationship to the body. In the Undressed Project, Dandelion uses naked dance/theater to uncover the inherent richness, interconnection and impermanence of all bodies as well as the blocks that get in the way of experiencing such a perspective.
Naked Dance Workshops
“Healing Body Image Through Naked Dance” workshop:
DANCE TECHNIQUES MADE BY AND FOR ALL KINDS OF BODIES.
Every BODY is perfect for dancing. This statement is the core of Dandelion Dancetheater’s Undressed Project and the focus of these enlivening weekends of naked dance held in conjunction with performances from the Undressed Project . Eric Kupers and the company teach clothing optional classes in modern dance, improvisation, partnering, and material from the Undressed Project repertory, as vehicles for transformation of body image. No previous experience necessary. Bodies of all shapes, sizes, shades, physical abilities, ages and genders are welcome to these one-of-a-kind dance experiences!
ANICCA
This latest evening length work from the Undressed Project collides nudity
and
body politics in a radical wrestling with impermanence. Created with
support
from an Irvine Foundation/Dance USA "Dance: Creation to Performance"
grant
and the ODC Theater Resident Artist Program, this site-specific journey
travels surprising pathways through buildings, parks, sidewalks and more.
ANICCA (a word from the Buddha's teaching language, Pali, that means "impermanence") is created and performed by the wildly diverse Dandelion Dancetheater; and joined by a community chorus of naked performers drawn from workshops in each city. ANICCA has been performed in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Hawaii, Blue Lake, CA, and New York.
Booking ANICCA
We will have a number of versions of the
work
to offer, depending on the size and scope of each venue. For small spaces
with very little production resources to offer, we can bring a "bare
bones"
version, that features the Undressed Project's most compelling vignettes,
strung together without need for a set. When the resources allow, we will
bring our full cast and sets, creating a multi-layered theatrical
environment for audiences to immerse themselves in. There are numerous
variations between these two, and all will draw from and celebrate the
fascinating diversity of naked human bodies. For more information, please
